An image first discovered by John Fawcett on the upper reaches of the Great Limpopo River in 1913 but lost before it could be recorded in his journal.

It should never be assumed that the river on whose banks one is encamped is flowing in the direction one thinks. Rivers flow downstream but whither the stream? One should listen out for the sound of birds for they can provide useful clues to the tenor of one’s times. Yesterday a finch of some sort landed on the arm of my chair.
